Daniel Ogunshakin

Biography

I am a broadcast journalist living and working in Singapore for Fox Sports Asia and have been working in the media industry for the past six years in print, radio and television.

I was born in London in 1981 to Solomon and Brenda Ogunshakin and I am of English and Nigerian descent.

I moved to North Yorkshire where I spent the majority of my early and teenage years before moving to Sheffield to complete further education at Sheffield Hallam University.

There I studied Sport and Sociology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with honours, graded second class, upper level (2:1) in 2002.

Upon the completion of my studies I travelled around Southeast Asia, Australasia and North America before returning to Thailand to become a PADI dive instructor.

This choice of career took me back to Australia and then to Malaysian Borneo where I worked teaching people to dive.

In 2008, I returned to Thailand but this time as a sports editor for two newspapers – The Phuket Gazette and The Phuket News – and two radio stations where I hosted a breakfast show and a weekly topical sports show.

This career change eventually saw me move to Singapore where I currently reside. I joined ESPN STAR Sports as a senior news editor in January 2012. I was promoted to the position of broadcast journalist in June, 2012 and am currently employed in that position by Fox Sports Asia following a takeover in January 2013.
